Goodwill® Relocates Covington Retail Store to Former
Circuit City Site
Grand Opening set for Thursday, September 22
Goodwill
Industries® of Southeastern Louisiana, Inc. (Goodwill) is relocating
its Covington Retail Store from 1000 Business 190 to 790 North
Highway 190— which is the former site of Circuit City. The ribbon
cutting ceremony for the new store will take place at 8:50 a.m.,
Thursday, September 22. Doors will open immediately thereafter at 9
a.m. [

Goodwill GOODGUIDES® Back to School Bash Photo
Opportunity
Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Louisiana, Inc. is hosting a
Back to School Bash for dozens of individuals enrolled in
GOODGUIDES®—a mentoring program that helps disadvantaged youth
between the ages of 12 and 17 build career plans and skills and
prepare for school completion, post-secondary training and
productive work. GOODGUIDES is funded by a U.S. Department of
Justice Grant dispersed to 56 independent Goodwill agencies around
the country. [

Thrift Store Documentarian Lands
at Goodwill in New Orleans to Document What New Orleanians Buy &
Donate
All Thrifty States, a photographic essay project, promotes a healthy
consumer product cycle that includes saving natural resources,
energy and money by purchasing used goods. The project is
spearheaded by Jenna Isaacson, a Washington-DC based independent
visual journalist and lover of all things thrift. Isaacson has been
traveling country since June 18th in a fuel-efficient RV from Cruise
America. Isaacson will be at Goodwill Store at 3400 Tulane Avenue
today photographically documenting Goodwill stores.. [

GOOD TURN DAY on March 12th, 2011GOOD TURN DAY (
March
12th) has become a community tradition between Goodwill
Industries® and Girl Scouts of Southeastern Louisiana.
HOW IT
WORKS
Scouts do a GOOD TURN by collecting gently used items to
bring to their local Goodwill and are honored with a “Good Turn”
patch for participating. Scout participation also helps make the
general public aware of Goodwill’s mission and need for donations of
quality, gently used goods.

TEN EASY HALLOWEEN COSTUME IDEAS FROM GOODWILL
The economy is slowly recovering, but people are still looking for
ways to get the most value for their dollar. According to the
National Retail Federation, Americans will spend $66.28 on Halloween
costumes, candy and décor this year — up from last year’s $56.31 and
close to 2008’s average of $66.54. The survey also found that people
will be cautious about their Halloween spending and will try to save
money where they can.

Opens March 31st on
Coursey Boulevard
Goodwill Industries of
Southeastern Louisiana, Inc. (Goodwill) invites shoppers and donors
to the March 31st grand opening of its brand new retail store and
donation drive thru, located at 10778 Coursey Boulevard, next to
Chimes Restaurant. A 9:00AM ribbon cutting marks the occasion with
doors opening immediately thereafter. This is Goodwill’s second
store in the Baton Rouge area and its 14th location in Southeastern
Louisiana.

Shopping Spree at Goodwill New Orleans
Cross dressing
males spawned a mini-boon for retail stores of Goodwill Industries
of Southeastern Louisiana, Inc. over the weekend. The spirited fun
was all in honor of the legendary and deceased New Orleans
sportscaster Buddy Diliberto who vowed to march on Bourbon Street in
a dress if the Saints ever made it to the Super Bowl.
