Goodwill offers an array of specialized broadband courses to train individuals in a variety of connectivity technologies. Each course is 45 hours and offered at Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Louisiana, Inc., Suite 1000, in New Orleans. Participants receive national certification upon completion of each course.

Goodwill Week

Goodwill Week will be held May 3-9.

For the last 51 years during the first full week of May, Goodwill agencies across the United States and Canada celebrate the power of work through local events and awareness efforts. This year, Goodwill Week is recognized May 3-9 and dedicated to raising awareness and educating the public about Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Louisiana’s (Goodwill) job training, career and other community-based services that help people find jobs, earn paychecks and strengthen their families and communities. Last year, Goodwill served 3,438 people and placed 279 individuals into competitive employment.

Goodwill Industries® of Southeastern Louisiana Receives Board of Regents Approval to Open Proprietary School

Goodwill Industries® of Southeastern Louisiana has received approval from Louisiana Board of Regents to establish the Goodwill Career & Technical College (GCTC), which specializes in helping vulnerable populations receive industry certifications and skills in high-demand local industries. Opening in August at 3400 Tulane Avenue in Mid City New Orleans, GCTC will offer affordable career training and industry based certifications in Broadband Technology (CTECH), START (Hospitality and Tourism), Microsoft Office Technology and Digital Literacy. “We believe that education is a pathway out of poverty and many in our community are missing the opportunity to obtain employable skills that will help them become economically independent,” said Bill Jessee, president of Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Louisiana. “The Goodwill Career & Technical College addresses a community need for a comprehensive hands-on curriculum for individuals who otherwise may not successfully earn a technical education.”

Spring Cleaning

With a particularly cold and snowy winter nearing an end, millions of Americans are gearing up for the annual de-hibernation ritual known as spring cleaning. This year, Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Louisiana (Goodwill) is encouraging people to think of the spring-cleaning season as both a time to offer a fresh start to bygone belongings, and to help give individuals in need of work get a fresh start, too. By donating clothing and household goods to Goodwill®, consumers can ensure their spring cleaning refuse gets diverted from landfills, and they can also help fund job training and placement programs for individuals right here in Southeastern Louisiana.
